Alexia Campbell is a multilingual journalist based in Washington, D.C. She is completing a fellowship at American University’s Investigative Reporting Workshop as she pursues a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs.

Campbell spent five years covering crime and safety for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale before moving to the nation’s capital. Campbell also reported on South Florida’s diverse Hispanic community for the newspaper’s Race & Demographics Team. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune.

Campbell graduated from journalism school at the University of Tennessee and started her career as a Spanish-language reporter for La Palma, a weekly publication of The Palm Beach Post

Campbell grew up in São Paulo, Brazil, and has dual citizenship in the United States and Mexico. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
